Clusters, 2005, a temporary assemblage at Projekt 0047, Berlin

The voice over from Ligorio’s video “Irregular Configuration, 2005” was presented as an ambient sound piece, providing the conceptual frame for a series of sketches and collages. A fictitious journey through old and new geographies of territories, scientific fields and economic sectors form a tight network of clusters interacting with one another to create a narrative flux. These networks are juxtaposed to an older video “Wired Under Water, 1999” where Deborah Ligorio organized and directed a real expedition to film a submarine telecommunication cable. The camera follows one of the transoceanic fiberoptic cables, which are part of the infrastructure of the global information network, into the depth of the sea. Consequently the presentation becomes a temporary assemblage where parts of old and new works redefine each other as they enter into an open discourse.
