Air Currents. Flows of thought.
Like a mirage… maybe an illusory phenomenon.
Seems near and yet unreachable.
The sea level is rising. Will this island too
be submerged?
In the middle of the Mediterranean, in an area
geologically part of both Europe and Africa, it
is a zone of union and a point of cohabitation
for the diverse plants, animals and fish. A deep
universe –
It is the first piece of European land that flows
of migration reach on their way north. Underwater,
other groups are migrating north as well, due
to warming waters.
Some predatory fish have migrated, while their
preys have not.
It is not easy to adapt or to keep balance. Cohabitation
is not an easy task.
One species benefits, the other is harmed. Neither
species benefits. One species benefits, the other
is unaffected. Both species are unaffected. Both
species benefit.
It is proven that long-term stability in ecosystems
comes only with high biodiversity, and when the
diverse species set up mutually beneficial links
between each other.
Sounds also like a good prescription for humanity!
North, North East, East, South East, South, South
West, West, North West, North, North East, East,
Navigating the Mediterranean, the superhighway
of transport in ancient times. I could go east
towards Asia, south towards Africa, or west and
pop out through the Pillars of Hercules as if
nowadays with this act I could still gain knowledge
of the unknown.
It is difficult to imagine that any information
might be able to reach this place and yet my mobile
phone works. I am also reachable here.
I dive into the waves? Imagine what this must
look like to the fish below, my kicking feet,
appearing, disappearing.
In navigation it is not so important where you
stand, but rather in which direction you are going.
And the direction is not always connected to the
origin?
Going in different directions, coming from different
places, we meet in the middle. Do you picture
the X?
Keep trying to find the balance.
